June 5, 2022, Lagos, Nigeria - To commemorate World Environment Day 2022, Solution17 for Climate Action, in partnership with EcoMatcher and TK Tech Africa, is launching "Technology Tree Monitoring System" and "Climate Art on Blockchain" initiatives, demonstrating Solution 17's commitment to promoting a green economy as well as lead in the race towards net zero in Nigeria.
Starting June 11, tree planting will start in different locations in Lagos State, supporting Solution17's goal of planting 10 million trees in Nigeria by 2030. All newly planted trees will be digitally captured with the EcoMatcher App for tracking purposes.
TK Tech Africa will transform Solution17’s Climate Art into NFT assets that will be listed on local and global exchanges, with the objective of raising funds to finance tree planting and other green initiatives.
July 1, 2022, an official event will take place highlighting the initiatives with key stakeholders from the art sector, technology, carbon trade market, securities exchange, government, creative economy, NGOs, business leaders, international agencies, and players on the frontline of climate change, and to discuss how to the accelerate the low carbon development in Nigeria, ahead of COP27.
The CEO and Project Director of Solution17, Foluke Michael, expressed her excitement about the new partnerships and reiterated the importance of digital technologies in planting, tracking, monitoring, and evaluating Solution17 trees across Nigeria. The comprehensive climate technologies will revolutionize the greening of the economy, supporting transparent and engaging tree planting, and enabling companies to integrate tree planting into their business strategies and processes.
